Our team is made up of really smart people who love what they do for a living. We also depend on really smart, reliable, and talented subcontractors and build unique teams based on the job at hand.   Peter, Doug and Erica form our management team.  

Peter Lazar

Founder

Living in cohousing, and as Past President of the U.S. Cohousing Association, Peter has long been fascinated with how the spaces around us and relationships with our neighbors contribute to our happiness and well-being.  He founded Sheeflee to meet a local need for eco-friendly homes that also focus on lifestyle and "happiness per square foot".   Peter has been CEO or VP of various companies ranging from startups to over $100m revenue.  He received a BA and MS from the University of Virginia.

Doug Birch

VP of Construction

Doug Birch, a Charlottesville native, has been in the construction industry for over 20 years and joins the Sheeflee team with a diverse skill set. He has served as project manager on countless residential projects and worked as Construction Project Specialist of Exterior Sales for a Fortune 500 company. Doug has extensive product knowledge and holds a Journeyman electrician's license and is OSHA 30 certified. 

Chief Administrative Officer

With a Masters in Business Administration from Ohio State University and a love for business strategy, Erica oversees Sheeflee's day-to-day managerial tasks and our broader operations strategy. She has previous experience in sourcing and procurement, research and development, and process improvement. Erica's interest in the construction industry is based on the impressive transformations that happen when a blank or shabby canvas becomes refreshed and beautiful.

Erica Thomas
